About VPDD
Vaccine preventable diseases division belongs to Rwanda Biomedical Center. It has a mandate of availing all required vaccines for routine immunization and ensure the availability of other vaccines which are needed and recommended at international level for travelers.
Available vaccine which may be needed by travelers:
1.Yellow fever vaccine
2. Meningitis vaccine
3. Hepatitis B vaccine

Yellow Fever Vaccination
In Rwanda, yellow fever vaccination is required for all travelers over one year old. You are advised to carry the certificate of proof of vaccination. This also applies if you arrive from another country where yellow fever is a risk.
The certificate is not valid until ten days after your vaccination, so be sure to have this done in good time.

Meningitis Vaccine
Meningitis due to meningococcus bacteria infect from person to person through the air. The vaccine protects against infection for 3 years after 1 vaccination.
Hepatitis B vaccination
Hepatitis B vaccination should be considered for longer trips (two months or more), or if you will be working with children or in situations where contact with blood is increased.
